Hashnode - A Startup That Inspires Me The Most

Hey guys! Welcome back to another article. This is the second week of the #4Articles4Weeks writeathon. And I have to choose from one of these topics to write:

Which company or start-up inspires you the most and why?
What have been the most helpful online tools to self-improve as a developer/software engineer (from bootcamps to university degrees)?

So in this article, I've chosen to write about the first topic and I've chosen Hashnode (The platform you're currently on) as the company/start-up that inspires me the most. I'm not gonna go into a detailed comparison of Hashnode versus other platforms, instead, this is what I feel and enjoy about Hashnode. So without any further ado, let's dive into today's article!

Hashnode is a free blogging platform & community for both tech writers and readers. I think that this sentence sums it all up to what Hashnode is and how it has created an impact in the world of content writing for developers.

Why Does it inspire me the most?

Now that you have an idea of what Hashnode is, let me tell you why it is the most inspiring start-up for me.

Why I chose Hashnode for my blog?

Before I go on to tell you why Hashnode is the most inspiring start-up for me, let me tell you why I chose Hashnode for my blog.

I discovered Hashnode about 4 or 5 months ago when I was trying to get into blogging. I was planning on how I can start my blog, whether to build one on my own or to use a blogging platform. Although building a blog from scratch is really fun to do, it's very time-consuming and could miss out on really important features like commenting, reacting, etc and it'd be hard to maintain too. So I decided to go with a blogging platform and at that time, the blogging platforms that I had in mind were Ghost, Medium, Dev.to and Hashnode. Finally, I decided to go with Hashnode and I don't think that I've made the wrong choice. It has been everything I needed, from customizing to writing in Markdown to being able to assign a custom domain for my blog down the road. And to top it all off, it's completely free.

It's kinda unbelievable that they have all these features for free, so kudos to everyone behind Hashnode that make it alive and free.

It's a community, not a company

In my own words, I'd like to describe Hashnode to other developers as a Community and not a Company. This is true because I joined Hashnode thinking that, okay, I'm gonna start a blog here, it can help me reach a wider audience, and I can easily customize it the way I want and I can do all this for free.

Never did I think that I'd be a part of a community of awesome and loving developers, ready to share, help, enjoy and grow with other developers. It's just fascinating how Hashnode is an amazing and valuable community for all developers out there. The community around Hashnode is so positive and energetic and I've learned a lot from it. This is the first-ever community I've joined and I have to say, the experience and the feedback I get from them are mindblowing.

The hype around Hashnode

Hashnode has now become the go-to place for many developers, either to read or write articles. Many developers, even beginners are trying to get into content writing and I think that Hashnode is being one of the reasons for that. I'm not sure about the stats of Hashnode, like the total number of blogs, articles or users, but from the Discord server and their Twitter account alone I can say that the numbers and the excitement are just skyrocketing. If you join their discord server, you'll see for yourself how much traction it's gaining each day. Every day, there are at least two new users who join and at least 10 developers who share their thoughts, knowledge and fun.

The Team

I cannot end this article without acknowledging the team that's building all this. No, I don't know everyone who works at Hashnode, but from the few that I do know (Eleftheria Batsou, Sumudu Siriwardana and Ayodele Samuel Adebayo who are very helpful through Twitter and in the Discord server) and the final product they are releasing, I can say that they are amazing. If not for these experienced and knowledgeable founders, developers and teams we wouldn't have Hashnode.

Final words

So this is why Hashnode inspires me the most. They are building a strong and enormous community/platform while providing an unimaginable amount of value for developers and I think that this is what makes them reach great heights and I'm glad to have joined this community.
